The USS Spiegel Grove is one of the largest ships ever intentionally sunk as an artificial reef — a 510 ft Thomaston-class Landing Ship Dock that sits upright in 134 ft off Key Largo. Tower decks start at 50 ft; the main deck is 80–95 ft; the bridge wings hit 95 ft. Goliath grouper, eagle rays, big jacks in the wash deck.
Site notes from a PADI Divemaster who dives here
50–70 ft
Easiest entry to the wreck, eagle rays often patrol.
80–95 ft
Classic Spiegel dive. Goliath grouper in the boat bay.
110–125 ft
Penetration — requires wreck cert + redundancy.
