By accessing or using stoicdiver.com — including any planner, checklist, condition page, or community feature — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Diving carries inherent risk

Scuba diving is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury, decompression illness, drowning, or death. The educational content, calculators, checklists, condition reports, and community discussions on this site are aids to thinking — not authoritative dive planning systems and not a substitute for proper training, supervision, or your own judgment.

Tools are educational aids only

The Nitrox planner, decompression planner, gas planner, weight calculator, Hollis Prism 2 checklist, BHB tide planner, and dive-condition pages are produced as best-effort educational resources. They use third-party data (NOAA, Open-Meteo, manufacturer documentation) and modeled estimates (visibility, bottom temperature, scoring) that may be incomplete, delayed, wrong, or inappropriate for your dive. You agree to:

• Independently verify every calculation against your training, your dive computer, your team plan, and certified dive tables before relying on it.
• Never substitute the site's output for the judgment of a certified instructor, divemaster, or boat captain on the day of the dive.
• Stay within your certification, training, recency, fitness, and gas limits.
• Carry primary and redundant life-support equipment appropriate to the planned dive.

Hold harmless

Use of all tools, checklists, condition data, recommendations, links, and community content is at your sole risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law you agree not to hold Stoic Diver, its operator(s), contributors, partners, sponsors, or any community member liable for any injury, illness, equipment loss, financial loss, or other damages arising from your use of the site, your reliance on any content, or any decision you make based on it.

If you create an account, you separately acknowledge the in-app liability waiver presented during profile setup. That waiver is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Material changes to the waiver text will require re-acknowledgement on next sign-in.

Eligibility

You must be 18 or older to create an account or rely on the site's tools in your own dive planning. You must be physically, medically, and mentally fit to dive at the level of certification you enter on your profile.

Account conduct

You agree not to use any account, saved plan, comment, photo, or community feature to:

• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your credentials.
• Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or violates anyone else's rights.
• Scrape, spam, or otherwise abuse the service.
• Upload malicious files or attempt to circumvent security controls.

We reserve the right to remove content and terminate accounts at our discretion, without notice, for any violation of these Terms.

Intellectual property

Site content — editorial writing, illustrations, charts, code, and design — is the property of Stoic Diver and its contributors, protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or redistribute it without written permission. Quoting short passages with attribution and a link is fine.

You retain ownership of content you upload (avatars, notes, future photos/comments). By uploading, you grant Stoic Diver a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content as part of your account and, where you mark it public, in any public-facing portion of the site.

Affiliate links and sponsorships

The site contains affiliate links to gear retailers and may, in the future, contain clearly labeled sponsored placements. Affiliate links carry a rel="sponsored" attribute and the site may earn a commission from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. We only link products that we would dive ourselves. Editorial decisions are independent of affiliate revenue.

External links

Links to dive shops, dive operators, manufacturers, and live webcam feeds operated by others are provided as references. Their content, prices, accuracy, availability, and privacy practices are not ours. Always confirm before booking, buying, or relying on their information.

Service availability

The site is offered "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant uninterrupted service, accuracy of third-party data feeds, or compatibility with any specific browser, device, or workflow.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will trigger re-acknowledgement on next sign-in for account-holders. For visitors, the updated terms take effect on posting; the date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
